Benjamin Joel Beaton is a judge for the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Kentucky. Beaton was born in 1981 in Paducah, Kentucky. He received his bachelor's degree from Centre College in 2003 and his law degree from Columbia Law School in 2009. After law school, he clerked for Judge A. Raymond Randolph of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 2009-2010. Beaton opened a private practice that he continued for the next seven years. During that time, he also clerked Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court (2011-2012). On September 8, 2020 President Donald Trump nominated Beaton for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, filling the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Justin Reed Walker. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on November 17, 2020. Beaton received his commission on December 1, 2020.
